Open Image Studio recently teamed up with Katie Werkin of Chancey Charm to work on a wedding style shoot at Maplewood Farms nestled quaintly in Mansfield, Ohio. The culmination of hours of planning, working with vendors, and setting up for the faux “big day” was exhaustingly awesome. To be honest, I was kind of sad that no one actually ended up getting married that day because of how beautiful everything turned out. More to come on this later so stay tuned!
One of our goals for the shoot was to feature as many local vendors as possible. For our drink station we decided to reach out to one of Columbus’s favorite local spots, Brothers Drake Meadery & Bar.
Brothers Drake sits noticeably along East Fifth Avenue with an outside patio, and food truck usually parked out front – you can’t miss it.
A lot of people either haven’t heard of mead, or associate it with dark ages literature. Preceding the dark ages, “Mead or honey wine is the oldest alcoholic beverage known to man.” Pretty crazy.
Besides their mead, Brothers Drake offers weekly live music, tours, and of course signature cocktails used with the best local spirits (as well as local beers for the non-mead drinkers).
We primarily used the Apple Pie Mead for our cocktail table. We also decided to promote one of their signature cocktails – The Ohio Gold.
Many thanks to Brothers Drake for donating their amazing product! Be sure not to miss their “Apple Pie Take Over!” this Saturday, October 3rd from 11am-2am, which will include live music, seasonal cocktails, and food specials.
